Beard and the Longhorns have pursued the forward position heavily in the transfer portal so far this offseason. And that makes a lot of sense given the sort of losses they have sustained in the transfer portal and potentially to the NBA Draft this year. They’ve lost the likes of former senior big man Royce Hamm Jr., forward Gerald Liddell, and center Will Baker to the transfer portal since the start of last season.

And the likes of sophomore breakthrough power forward Kai Jones, Brown, and Sims, could all be gone to the NBA Draft this offseason.

Texas did at least replenish some of their depth in the forward rotation this offseason when they pulled in Bishop and Allen from the transfer portal. And flipping the commitment of the former Texas Tech Red Raider elite four-star John Paul II small forward signee Jaylon Tyson earlier this month.

Moreover, one of the newest transfer portal targets to the party for the Longhorns of late is the former Vanderbilt Commodores star 6-foot-9 and 220 pound sophomore forward Dylan Disu. The former four-star recruit and Pflugerville, TX, native Disu had a tremendous second-year with the Commodores last season.

In 17 games played with Vanderbilt last season, Disu averaged a solid 15.0 points per game, 9.2 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 1.1 steals, and 1.2 blocks. And he shot 49.2 percent from the field, 36.9 percent from beyond the arc, and 73.6 percent from the free-throw line.

Disu could really help to start rounding out the Longhorns forward rotation this offseason if they get a commitment from him out of the portal in the near future.
