Texas Football: Predicting the next 2021 signee after Xavier Worthy
Dorian Singer, S/WR
The two-sport athlete and Pinnacle (AZ) High School product Dorian Singer was, at one point in time, a new and important prioritized target on the recruiting trail for Herman and the Longhorns. But as soon as it was known that Herman was on the hot seat for Texas heading into the offseason, the pursuit of Singer slowed for this program.
The 6-foot-1 and 175 pound St. Paul, MN, native and versatile recruit now hailing out of Phoenix, AZ, was rated as a three-star prospect. And it is known that Singer can play on either side of the ball. He could fit in for a team at the next level as either a defensive back or wide receiver. Most of his significant production, though, came at the safety position with Pinnacle.
Texas originally sent their scholarship offer Singer’s way back on Dec. 21, 2020. They actually offered Singer after the Early Signing Period concluded. And when Texas athletic director Chris del Conte came out with a vote of confidence for Herman following the conclusion of the 2020 regular season, it made sense that the pursuit of Singer would continue.
But that halted when the Longhorns replaced Herman with Sark in early January.
Moreover, Texas is one of more than 15 schools on Singer’s offer sheet. Some of the other notable schools that have offered him include the Air Force Falcons, Easter Michigan Eagles, Iowa State, FCS North Dakota State Bison, Ohio Bobcats, and Utah Utes. There’s also a chance that the Arizona schools could pursue Singer this offseason if they find a positional need at defensive back or wide receiver.
Singer ranks as the nation’s No. 1,066 2021 high school prospect, No. 151 wide receiver, and No. 18 prospect out of Arizona (247Sports Composite). And the Top247 ranks him as the No. 191 wide receiver and No. 20 prospect out of Arizona.
