Texas Football: Predicting the next 2021 signee after Xavier Worthy
Brandon Honorable, OT
One of the more underrated positional needs that the Longhorns might have to address this offseason sits along the offensive line. Texas does get some help this offseason by getting senior center/offensive guard Derek Kerstetter back, using the extra year of eligibility granted by the NCAA for any players that competed last season in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
But you can’t underestimate what the loss of the standout redshirt junior 6-foot-7 and 305 pound offensive tackle Sam Cosmi to the 2021 NFL Draft means to the Texas offensive line. Cosmi was the steadiest and most talented offensive linemen for the Longhorns in arguably each of the past three seasons.
Moreover, one option for the Longhorns to pursue help along the offensive line this offseason is picking up another retroactive addition to the 2021 class. And while this might be the biggest reach of all the potential additions for the Longhorns 2021 class retroactively this offseason, the next name up would be an interesting option for new Texas offensive line coach/offensive coordinator Kyle Flood.
The PItt Panthers commit and underrated three-star 6-foot-7 and 280 pound Martin Luther King (MI) offensive tackle Brandon Honorable could be an intriguing target on the trail for the Longhorns. Honorable committed to Pitt back on May 10, 2020, but he has yet to sign his LOI.
Texas is not one of the more than 15 schools on Honorable’s offer sheet, but they could be if Flood and Sark showed significant interest. Some of the notable schools that are on his offer sheet now include the Cincinnati Bearcats, Indiana Hoosiers, Iowa State, Minnesota Golden Gophers, Purdue Boilermakers, Syracuse Orange, and Tennessee Volunteers.
Moreover, Honorable ranks as the nation’s No. 758 2021 high school prospect, No. 63 offensive tackle, and No. 19 prospect out of Michigan (247Sports Composite). And the Top247 ranks him as the No. 66 offensive tackle and No. 18 prospect out of Michigan.
