Texas Football: Predicting the next 2021 signee after Xavier Worthy
Donovan Kaufman, S
The final name on this list that the Longhorns could add next to their 2021 incoming class this offseason is a prospect out of the transfer portal. In fact, this last player on the list is the lone name on this list out of the transfer portal. Former Vanderbilt Commodores freshman safety and underrated three-star recruit Donovan Kaufman is already drawing a lot of interest out of the portal, and the Longhorns appear to be one of the schools now after his services.
Texas might not be done picking up key additions to the program out of the transfer portal this offseason. But they will have to get on it soon if they do in fact want to get another addition to the program out of the portal in the near future.
One option that has come to the forefront of late for the Longhorns and newly hired defensive backs coach Terry Joseph is the 5-foot-10 and 180 pound Kaufman. According to a report from 247Sports on April 23 (paid content), Texas is interested and in contact with Kaufman out of the portal of late.
Other reported interested schools in what Kaufman brings to the table out of the portal include LSU, the Florida State Seminoles, Tennessee, and the Auburn Tigers. Although, Texas was not one of the 20 offers that Kauman held coming out of high school.
Kaufman did get a good bit of playing time for the Commodores during his freshman campaign last fall. He registered 15 combined tackles, no tackles for loss, and one pass breakup, in two games played for Vanderbilt. A lot of top-tier programs appear to be after him now that his name is in the portal.
