An integral part of the Longhorns 2018 recruiting class, the Houston-area native and former Texas wide receiver Brennan Eagles was a huge win at the time for this program over competing programs on the trail like Texas A&M and Alabama. The 6-foot-4 and 230 pound Eagles was productive on the Forty Acres for the past three seasons, before declaring early for the 2021 NFL Draft.

Jimbo was actually after the commitment of Eagles at two different stops in his college football coaching journey to date. When he was the head coach of the Florida State Seminoles through the end of the 2017 season, Fisher was after Eagles to get him in their 2018 class.

But it was Fisher leaving Tallahassee to join the Aggies heading into the 2018 offseason that led to him recruiting Eagles to come to College Station.

Texas, Florida State, and Texas A&M were three of 28 schools that offered Eagles. Some of the other notable schools on his offer sheet were the Auburn Tigers, Clemson Tigers, Alabama, Florida Gators, Georgia Bulldogs, LSU, Ohio State Buckeyes, Oklahoma, Oregon Ducks, Tennessee Volunteers, and USC Trojans.

During his three years playing for Texas, Eagles registered 61 catches for just over 1,000 yards and 11 touchdowns. There were problems that Eagles had during his time with Texas, including a few bad drops, but his career had to be considered productive throughout three years.

Moreover, Eagles ranked as the nation’s No. 61 2018 high school prospect, No. 10 wide receiver, and No. 6 prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite). And the Top247 ranked him as the nation’s No. 77 high school prospect, No. 11 wide receiver, and No. 6 prospect out of Texas.
