At this point, one of the most highly sought-after targets on the recruiting trail for Sark and the Longhorns 2022 class is the speedy and elusive four-star 5-foot-10 and 165-pound Spearman athlete/wide receiver Brenen Thompson. This skill position weapon clearly has track-level speed that he brings to the table since he is one of the best high school track sprinters in the state of Texas.

Thompson does currently have three dozen schools on his lengthy offer sheet. But it appears that his recruitment is starting to boil down to about five or six frontrunners at this point of the offseason. Those six schools to watch include Texas, the Texas A&M Aggies, Oklahoma, Alabama, Clemson Tigers, and Oklahoma State Cowboys.

There is a big looming visit that Thompson will have with the Longhorns this month. If Sark and second-year wide receivers coach Andre Coleman can do a good job in connecting with him and his family when he’s on campus later this month, then Texas might able to get his commitment before fall camp arrives this year.

The 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions have largely started to trend in favor of the Longhorns over the likes of Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, Clemson, and the rest of the field of late. It is big to watch the visits that Texas and Oklahoma State have with Thompson this month since that could narrow down his decision even further.

This one looks like a big blue-chip commit that Texas could soon have in their 2022 class.
