Texas Football: 3 commits Sark could get this weekend in OV’s
Sebastian Cheeks, LB
The final name on this list that is an out-of-state prospect that Sark and his coaching staff are doing great work with of late is the talented four-star 6-foot-3 and 210-pound Evanston Township (IL) linebacker Sebastian Cheeks. At one point, it looked like the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and head coach Brian Kelly held a clear edge to land a commitment from Cheeks, but that changed in the past couple of weeks.
Texas looks to be gaining fast on Cheeks, and he is set to make his way to the Forty Acres this weekend for a critical official visit. It looks like this official visit with Cheeks is coming at the perfect time for Texas. Just like with Jones, Cheeks is being pursued by Kwiatkowski. But he also has fellow new Texas co-defensive coordinator/linebackers coach Jeff Choate as one of his recruiters.
Cheeks in particular is one of the most highly-coveted four-star targets for the Longhorns 2022 class at the moment. He would add a lot of potency to this group of linebackers were he to join the Longhorns 2022 class when it’s all said and done on signing day. This recruitment could largely boil down to Texas and Notre Dame.
There’s a multitude of key linebacker targets in the 2022 class that are important to watch among the visitors this weekend in Austin. But no two are more crucial to the Longhorns 2022 class than Cheeks and the elite five-star Cy Park linebacker (also the top-ranked 2022 linebacker in the entire country) Harold Perkins, who is in Austin for an unofficial visit.
