With Texas landing a commitment out of the transfer portal from the former UMass star and two-time All-Atlantic 10 Conference Team selection Mitchell this week, the need to get more depth in the frontcourt is mostly diminished. Texas has a plethora of valuable transfer portal additions that can now play at the four or the five.

Once again, the final name up on this list would be more of a simple idea for the Longhorns to get a portal addition to add depth and round out the numbers in this rotation as a whole. Seeking out a backup center is a process that could largely start now with the former SMU Mustangs and Oklahoma State Cowboys big man Yor Anei.

For the second time in two years, Anei’s name popped up in the transfer portal. He left Oklahoma State following two years of improvement, as he became a mainstay in their frontcourt rotation. And then he picked up and took his talents to join SMU, where he provided some steady production for their frontcourt unit off the bench.

dark. Next. 3 2022 commits that could come soon for Texas

Texas is set in the starting unit now with Mitchell at the five, but Anei would be a familiar face they could bring into the mix to fill more of a backup center role. Having depth in this area definitely wouldn’t hurt anything, and Anei looks to be one of the more high-profile names remaining available in the transfer portal as of June 16.
