There was some hope originally when four-star Garland wide receiver Jordan Hudson decommitted from the Oklahoma Sooners that Texas would have a chance to get him in their 2022 class. Hudson is a prospect that the Longhorns kept on their radar even in the past few months when he was still committed to the Sooners.

Texas now needs to make a big final push if they want a real chance at landing the commitment of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex native when it’s all said and done. It doesn’t look like there’s a realistic chance for the Sooners to ultimately get the pledge of Hudson back this cycle. Granted you can’t rule out that possibility completely.

Moreover, the school that currently looks to be trending to get Hudson after his decommitment from Oklahoma is the SMU Mustangs. Head coach Sonny Dykes and wide receivers coach Ra’Shaad Samples have made an even bigger push to land Hudson than the Longhorns have in the last few weeks by most indications.

SMU hosted an official visit with Hudson on June 17, which came just three days after his decommitment from Oklahoma. Texas might still be able to get a visit scheduled with Hudson, but the writing looks to be on the wall now.

Texas looks like the school that is firmly in second place for Hudson behind the Mustangs at this point. It still remains a possibility that Sark and the Longhorns could flip the commitment of Hudson this offseason to them, but the chances are dwindling at the moment.
