For the second time in his college career to date, the former San Jose State Spartans and LSU shooting guard/wing and redshirt junior Seneca Knight. The 6-foot-7 and 215-pound former unranked recruit coming out of Louisiana really only had looks from San Jose State when he was coming out of high school during the 2018 recruiting cycle.

It was a weird timeline that Knight was on last season. He opted out of playing for most last season in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, and then transferred to LSU just after the turn of the calendar year. Knight actually never got to play in a single game for the Tigers before putting his name in the transfer portal for the second time in the past seven months.

What made everything even weirder about Knight’s timeline last season was the fact that he did still play in four games for San Jose State. Since he did still play in a few games with San Jose State last season, he wasn’t eligible to play for LSU until the start of the 2021-22 campaign.

But Knight showed some real progress in his game during these three seasons playing for the Spartans. His best individual season came back during the 2019-20 campaign. In that season, Knight averaged 17.1 points per game, 5.7 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.0 steals, and 0.3 blocks. And he shot 40.3 percent from the field, 29.4 percent from beyond the arc, and 77.2 percent from the free-throw line.

If the Longhorns could get that version of Knight that was more well-rounded and a volume scoring spark that could come off the bench for them, it could be an intriguing addition to the two-guard/wing rotation.
