One of the not so welcome pieces of news that dropped this week on the recruiting trail concerning a big-time target of the Longhorns 2022 class included four-star West Brook (TX) safety Bryce Anderson pushing back his decision timeline. Anderson was originally set to make his decision on July 4 (which is within the next week).

But that decision will now be pushed back further into the summer, if not all the way to the fall, for Anderson. The 6-foot and 190-pound Beaumont, TX, native was anticipated to be the first potential addition to the Longhorns 2022 class coming out of the final weekend of official visits. But that has all changed now.

Anderson still could have Texas as his frontrunner out of the key month of June for visits. He had his official visit with the Longhorns on June 25, which also looked to be a key date on the timeline for this program. But it is also very much worth noting the June 4 visit that Anderson had with the rival Texas A&M Aggies.

That seems to be what caused the timeline of Anderson to be pushed back in the first place.

Texas A&M and Texas could be the two schools that Anderson boils his decision down to. Texas had all the momentum with Anderson at one point, and could still be looking at a summer commitment from him. New safeties coach Blake Gideon and cornerbacks coach Terry Joseph will really have to continue pressing on this one.
