Texas Football: Predicting next 2022 commit after RB Jamarion Miller
Sebastian Cheeks, LB
A prospect that was the talk for the town for a while on the Forty Acres is the talented four-star Evanston Township linebacker Sebastian Cheeks. A key June 11 official visit with Cheeks in Austin seemed to win a lot of favor for Sark and this coaching staff. The pursuit of Cheeks really heated up for Texas last month.
Getting that official visit on the books with Cheeks made all the difference in where Texas stands now in his recruitment. That just goes to show how much one visit can do, and how important it is to make the right impression at this point of the summer, with a prospect that is teetering between multiple schools like Cheeks.
A few of the other schools to watch in pursuit of Cheeks include the Oregon Ducks, North Carolina Tar Heels, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Michigan Wolverines, and Wisconsin Badgers. But it feels like most of the momentum is trending with Texas and UNC at the moment. Those were the two visits that Cheeks had this month that came out with the most buzz.
Michigan could also be a school to watch moving forward, but we’ll see how head coach Jim Harbaugh trends with the Illinois native for the rest of the summer months.
Texas looks to be in a good position with Cheeks right now, but his decision timeline is mostly unknown. If the momentum Texas built with him a few weekends ago still sits well with him, a decision might not be too far away.
