Texas Football: Predicting next 2022 commit after huge OL day
KJ Miles, DL
One of the more notable upcoming commitments among targets of the Longhorns 2022 class is the rising four-star St. Peters Prep (NJ) defensive lineman KJ Miles. As a name to note that started to really come to the forefront late in visit season last month on the Forty Acres, Miles could be a nice blue-chip addition in the trenches for this class.
Yet, the writing is on the wall that Texas is starting to lag behind some of the other frontrunners in the race to land a commitment from Miles. Texas looks to be falling behind the likes of the Wisconsin Badgers and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in the race to land Miles’ commitment this weekend.
All three expert 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions at the moment project Miles’ commitment to land with Georgia Tech over Texas, Wisconsin, and the rest of the field. That is a change in course for Miles’ recruitment compared to what we expected for his commitment at the beginning of the week.
And the Rivals FutureCast has their analysts and publishers split between Georgia Tech and Wisconsin for where Miles’ commitment will land.
Texas has new offensive line coach/offensive coordinator Kyle Flood and defensive line coach Bo Davis as the top recruiters after Miles. He was also on campus for an official visit back on June 25. Getting the last word with Miles on an official visit last weekend looked to be big for Texas.
There is still a chance that the projections reverse course and Miles still lands with Texas. His July 4 decision gives Texas the chance to get their next blue-chip defensive line commit if Miles falls their way.
