Texas Football: 3 2022 LSU decommits the Longhorns could sign
Bryan Allen Jr., S
The lone former LSU commit that is currently pledged to the Longhorns 2022 class is the talented four-star 6-foot and 185-pound Aledo safety Bryan Allen Jr. It does hurt for head coach Ed Orgeron and the Tigers that they lost commitments from two blue-chip safeties as highly-touted as Allen Jr. and Anderson in their 2022 class.
However, the Longhorns made the most of the opportunity to get Allen Jr. when Sark and his coaching staff found all of that momentum on the recruiting trail late in the winter months. Texas specifically landed the commitment of Allen Jr. back on Feb. 28. They also hosted him on campus for an official visit back on June 18.
The only offer that came Allen Jr.’s way since his commitment to Texas back on Feb. 28 was from head coach Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide. Alabama also has former Texas cornerbacks coach Jay Valai and safeties coach Charles Kelly after Allen Jr. as his top recruiters.
Meanwhile, the top recruiters pursuing Allen Jr. for Texas are the new safeties coach Gideon and special teams coordinator Jeff Banks.
What Texas got out of the commitment of Allen Jr. is the nation’s No. 92 2022 high school prospect, No. 6 safety, and No. 18 prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite). And the Top247 ranks him as the nation’s No. 60 high school prospect, No. 6 safety, and No. 13 prospect out of Texas.
Allen Jr.’s decommitment from LSU arrived for that coaching staff around the same time as Anderson’s, on Jan. 21, 2021.
