Very few prospects, especially those with an offer from Texas for the 2022 recruiting cycle, saw their stock rise as fast of late as the five-star 6-foot-7 and 185-pound Coppell combo guard Anthony Black. The native of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex is a prospect that Texas really shouldn’t miss out on for their 2022 class.

Taking advantage of the momentous rise in the recruiting rankings that Black is seeing of late, Beard could establish the right foundation in the backcourt for his 2022 class by landing a commitment from Black. And Texas does currently appear to be one of the frontrunners to get him when it’s all said and done.

A few of the other schools to watch in connection with Black include the Iowa State Cyclones, Oklahoma State Cowboys, Duke Blue Devils, Memphis Tigers, and Kansas. It is a bit worrisome the amount of attention that the likes of Duke and Kansas are giving to Black of late. Duke is really starting to take a lot of energy and effort to put into the recruitment of Black.

Texas did host a successful official visit with Black back on June 9. He also visited Oklahoma State and Iowa State last month. But it looked as if Texas came out of the month of June with more momentum than those other two schools.

At this point, Black ranks as the nation’s No. 40 2022 high school prospect, No. 7 combo guard, and No. 4 prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite). And the Top247 ranks him as the nation’s No. 16 high school prospect, No. 2 combo guard, and No. 2 prospect out of Texas.

The fast rise of Black serves as a testament to his insanely gifted physical tools, two-way ability, and capability to drive and play above the rim. He’s a special budding talent out of Coppell.
