Nicholaus Iamaleava, QB

One prospect that recently came to the forefront for the Longhorns 2023 class is the five-star Warren (CA) quarterback Nicholaus Iamaleava. The 6-foot-5 and 195-pound Iamaleava is now set to visit Texas in a circuit where he also has trips with the rival Texas A&M Aggies and LSU later this month.

If there is a scholarship offer extended to Iamaleava following his visit to the Forty Acres this month, then that is a good signal that there is legitimate traction between Sark and the California quarterback. But Iamaleave already has parts of his game and recruiting profile that are similar to that of the 2022 Texas quarterback commit and four-star Junipero Serra product Maalik Murphy.

Both Iamaleava and Murphy have five-star potential. And if they get it right early in their college careers, then it looks like the NFL could very well be in their future.

Iamaleava and Murphy also both have big arms with an underrated amount of athleticism. We just need to see more from them both.

Moreover, Iamaleava has a bigger national spotlight on his recruitment already than the previous two quarterbacks on this list. As of the afternoon of July 17, he already has offers from 18 schools. Some of the more notable schools on his offer sheet are the Alabama Crimson Tide, UCLA Bruins, USC Trojans, Florida State Seminoles, Georgia Bulldogs, Ohio State Buckeyes, Tennessee Volunteers, Texas A&M, and Oregon.

Iamaleava would also currently be the third-highest rated quarterback that Texas had offered if that happens after his visit this month. He ranks as the nation’s No. 41 2023 high school prospect, No. 5 quarterback, and No. 4 prospect out of California (247Sports Composite). And the Top247 ranks him as the nation’s No. 22 high school prospect, No. 4 quarterback, and No. 4 prospect out of California.
