Texas Football: 4 top 2023 QB’s to target behind Arch Manning
Rickie Collins, QB
Another quarterback prospect that is a bit closer to home for the Longhorns that is one to watch that could get a scholarship offer from Texas in the near future is the potent four-star Woodlawn (LA) signal-caller Rickie Collins. The 6-foot-4 and 185-pound blue-chip quarterback is likely to see a big rise in his stock if he does well this fall with Woodlawn High School in Baton Rouge, LA.
All that Collins accounted for during the 2020 high school football season was just under 1,500 total yards and 16 total touchdowns. That came over the course of five games, as Collins was not the established starter at Woodlawn last season.
But this should be Collins’ show for the taking this fall. And with that comes his opportunity to rise among the very best quarterbacks for the 2023 recruiting cycle.
Collins brings an exciting amount of athleticism and ability to go through his reads from what he’s showed during this combine/camp circuit this offseason. It’s also easy to see the gifted physical tools he brings to the table from his limited high school highlights.
The offers have started to roll in more often for Collins in the past four months. He’s currently got 10 schools on his offer sheet. Some of the more notable schools on his offer sheet are the Louisville Cardinals, Arkansas, Louisiana Tech Bulldogs, LSU, Memphis Tigers, Purdue, Virginia Tech Hokies, and Tulane Green Wave.
Collins could be the fourth blue-chip quarterback that Texas has offered up to this point. He ranks as the nation’s No. 284 2023 high school prospect, No. 18 quarterback, and No. 14 prospect out of Louisiana (247Sports Composite). And the Top247 ranks him as the No. 32 quarterback and No. 18 prospect out of Louisiana.
