Texas Football: 4 players who could transfer next offseason
Roschon Johnson, RB
There is no other Longhorns player on this list as productive that might be a threat to enter the transfer portal by the start of next offseason than the standout junior running back and former converted quarterback Roschon Johnson. More depth on the way for Texas at this point could be something that starts to see the role of Roschon decline shortly, though.
Although Roschon is likely to hold a much bigger role for Sark and the Longhorns this fall at running back than Gbenda will at linebacker, it is a similar reason why this versatile rusher could explore transfer options by next offseason. Texas also brought in some help at running back that might be more depth than was originally needed.
Texas added the former Alabama sophomore running back Keilan Robinson out of the transfer portal this offseason. While that was one of the most impactful commitments out of the portal this offseason, landing Keilan will add a lot of pressure to running backs like senior Daniel Young, Roschon, Gabriel Watson, etc.
Roschon brings back more than 1,000 career rushing yards (5.3 yards per carry), 13 rushing touchdowns, 31 catches, 209 receiving yards (6.7 yards per catch), and two touchdown catches. His basic stat line doesn’t really do justice for the blocking impact that Johnson brings to the table for Texas either.
Roschon might have the best understanding of the complete offensive scheme of any Texas running back, and he is the most elusive blocker.
