Courtney Ramey, G

Although he is one of the streakier shooters in the Big 12 over the course of the past few seasons, rising senior guard and former four-star recruit Courtney Ramey is still a good fundamental shooter. Ramey showed some life in parts of his game last season that he didn’t before with the Longhorns, especially with his three-point shooting percentage.

Last season, Ramey shot 38.3 percent from the field, 41.4 percent from beyond the arc, and 83.1 percent from the free-throw line. Ramey wasn’t the best shooter from inside the arc, but he really found his rhythm from three-point range and the charity stripe during the 2020-21 campaign.

He’s improved from the free-throw line from a 58.8 percentage as a freshman to north of 83 percent last season.

And while he got off to a good start shooting from beyond the arc during his true freshman campaign, Ramey saw a big dip from that range during the 2019-20 season. He’s still got a solid three-point shooting percentage for his career, though, at 37.0.

Ramey is even better shooting from beyond the arc in Big 12 play. He’s a career 39.0 percent shooter from downtown in Big 12 play. And he shot a very impressive 86.0 percent from the free-throw line in Big 12 play last season.

The writing is on the wall that the progression should only continue for Ramey heading into his senior campaign. Where Ramey needs to improve the most is with his two-point jumpers and at the rim. Last season, he shot less than 30 percent on two-point jumpers and just 42.3 percent on attempts at the rim.
