Ground game can’t be stopped

Very little of what star sophomore running back Bijan Robinson does is surprising for Longhorns fans anymore. He is a true Heisman contender that is also one of the best running backs in all of college football. Texas fans are spoiled and have got used to seeing Robinson breakthrough multiple tackles each game and pick up yards in chunks.

Bijan has also really shown off his versatility since the end of last season. He’s shown improvement as a blocker and a receiver. In this game, Bijan registered 18 carries for 137 rushing yards (7.6 yards per carry), no rushing scores, two catches for 54 yards, and one receiving touchdown. He is now well over 300 receiving yards and four touchdown catches since the regular season finale in 2020.

And in the last two games alone, Texas has registered more than 720 rushing yards, 10 rushing touchdowns, and more than eight yards per carry. It’s not just Bijan that’s doing all of this damage either.

Junior running back Roschon Johnson is doing great work of late. In this game, Roschon registered 64 rushing yards and two rushing scores. Former Alabama transfer Keilan Robinson and freshman Jonathon Brooks were also solid in this game, combining for 89 rushing yards and one rushing score.

This ground game is extremely potent for the Longhorns, and it will be really difficult for essentially every Big 12 opponent to prepare for this stable of running backs that Sark and Kyle Flood have at their disposal.
