This is the biggest longshot of any on the list for who the next commitment up could be for Beard and the Longhorns in the 2022 class after landing Mitchell on Oct. 25. Five-star Dream City Chrisitan (AZ) center Yohan Traore is one of the truly elite prospects in this recruiting cycle, and the Longhorns got in on his recruitment recently.

Texas is one of nearly 20 schools to send a scholarship offer Traore’s way. Some of the other significant schools on his offer sheet are the Gonzaga Bulldogs, Texas Tech Red Raiders, Kansas Jayhawks, Louisville Cardinals, Michigan Wolverines, Oklahoma State Cowboys, TCU Horned Frogs, Tennessee Volunteers, Memphis Tigers, and UCLA Bruins.

The reason why Texas could still be in the running so late in this recruiting cycle for a top-tier prospect like Traore is the fact that there is a lack of clarity as to who his top schools are at this point.

Traore has visited schools like Texas Tech, Gonzaga, and Louisville, officially thus far. That would give the indication that there are some schools that offered Traore that he’s more interested in than others. But with no clear-cut top schools in the running for his commitment right now, the door should be considered wide open for Beard and the Longhorns to make a run at him before the Early Signing Period arrives.

The good news here for Beard and the Longhorns is the fact that they were in on Traore so soon after he was first hired to replace Shaka Smart as head coach. Texas was one of the earlier schools on his offer sheet, and the staff showed some interest in him within the first 60 days after most of these coaches were hired on the Forty Acres.
