Another under-the-radar three-star forward prospect that the Longhorns could consider adding to the 2022 class is the Harrison Central (MS) product, Sam Murray. This 6-foot-7 and 190-pound power forward is definitely more on the Longhorns radar at this point in time, though, compared to someone like the Louisiana native Ratliff.

Murray held a Texas offer for a good while now, and they appear to be one of the top schools in the picture to land his commitment. But Texas looks to be behind the eight ball right now in the race to land a commitment from Murray.

The Mississippi State Bulldogs look to be the top school right now for Murray if there is one.

But the likes of Texas and the Baylor Bears might not be all that far behind the Bears right now. Texas and Baylor will need to put a ton of attention and energy in during the coming weeks and months if they want to catch up with Mississippi State, though.

I do think Ratliff has more upside to be a solid reserve, and potentially a starter eventually, power forward for the Longhorns. But Murray has more upside out of the gates if he’s able to put on some weight. He’s a good defender, has solid court vision, and is working on his offensive arsenal.

Once again, if Texas is looking to add some numbers in the 2022 class, then Murray could be a solid addition to the mix. There aren’t many uncommitted three and four-star power forwards remaining for this recruiting cycle, but Murray is one to watch in the weeks and months ahead.
