There are very few players as important to the Longhorns’ ultimate success this season than the former blue-chip recruit and the versatile senior guard Courtney Ramey. The reigning All-Big 12 Third-Team selection definitely didn’t have a perfect start to the regular season, but it’s hard to argue with the production he’s put forward as a whole.

Through three games this season, Ramey is second on the team in three-point shooting percentage among those taking at least one attempt from beyond the arc per game. He also ranks in the top three on the team in rebounds per game and steals.

To add more to this, Ramey is also perfect on four attempts from the free-throw line so far this season.

Ramey is averaging around nine points per game, four rebounds, two assists, one steal, and no blocks. And he’s shot 45.5 percent from the field, 44.4 percent from beyond the arc, and is 100 percent from the free-throw line as already mentioned.

This has led Ramey to post a career-best .193 win shares per 40 minutes, 4.2 box plus/minus, 18.9 player efficiency rating, and 58.6 true shooting percentage.

After Texas lost the former standout senior guard Matt Coleman and added senior guard Marcus Carr and sophomore guard Devin Askew out of the NCAA Transfer Portal during the offseason, there were some major adjustments Ramey had to make to his game. And he’s done well with those adjustments so far, becoming a more capable off-ball shooting threat while remaining a solid on-ball perimeter defender.
