3 reasons QB Quinn Ewers should transfer to Texas
True shot at immediate playing time
What is usually a top pitch to a transfer portal target like Ewers for a program at a position of need like Texas?
Immediate playing time.
Texas can give Ewers a clear shot to start right away if he lands on the Forty Acres out of the transfer portal entering the offseason. In fact, that was the original plan when Texas was the first school to land the commitment of Ewers in their 2022 recruiting class last year. But Ewers wound up flipping his commitment to Ohio State a few months after his original pledge to Texas, and that changed it all up.
Considering the fact that Ewers reclassified and enrolled a year early at Ohio State, things could actually still play out about the same as they would’ve anyway for Texas had he stuck out with his original commitment. Now there were definitely things that happened along the way after Ewers’ de-commitment from Texas that greatly shifted the look of this program.
All in all, Texas could still be in a good spot on the offensive side of the ball if Ewers does wind up picking the Longhorns. Ewers’ raw talent and big arm should be enough to give him a leg up to win the starting quarterback battle almost immediately. Casey Thompson did have solid stretches this fall, but also had a very inconsistent season.
Sark has established the clear message that he wants to add depth to the quarterback room entering the offseason. He wants to add competition along with Thompson and sophomore Hudson Card. Adding Ewers could make just about as big of an impact as possible for the Longhorns in 2022.
