Jacob Cowing, WR

Essentially each one of these potential transfer portal targets on this Christmas wish list for the Longhorns could fill a positional need for Sark and his staff this offseason. That is why the former UTEP Miners breakthrough junior wide receiver and recent transfer portal entrant Jacob Cowing is a key name on this list.

Cowing is one of the hotter names being tossed around with the Longhorns right now. And if Texas is serious about going out to get help at wideout this offseason in the transfer portal, Cowing is at least an option that should be considered. He had too good of a 2021 campaign, and theoretically fits Sark’s scheme well enough, to go unnoticed if Texas is taking the wideout need seriously at this point of the offseason.

Emerging as one of the best wideouts in the Group of Five this season, Cowing had a campaign to remember in 2021. He registered more than 1,300 receiving yards, seven receiving touchdowns, and nearly 20 yards per catch. This came while Cowing had a drop rate of less than eight percent, more than a dozen missed tackles forced, and nearly 500 yards after the catch.

The 5-foot-11 and 170-pound Cowing fits the bill for what Sark and the Longhorns are looking for out of most wide receivers at the high school level. He is just more polished and has even faced the Longhorns in the last two seasons. This fit should be a good one, and if there is a mutual interest, I could realistically see Cowing landing on the Forty Acres this offseason.
