4 important transfer portal targets to watch for Texas in February
Kameron Butler, DE/EDGE
Arguably the biggest positional need for the Longhorns to address in the transfer portal this offseason is at defensive end/edge rusher. Texas does have one clear defensive end/edge rusher they’re pursuing in the transfer portal right now. But we’ll get to him later in this list.
Another potential name to watch for the Longhorns in the transfer portal during the month of February is the former standout senior Miami (OH) Redhawks defensive end/edge rusher Kameron Butler. Texas doesn’t look to be in on the sweepstakes right now for Butler, which means they would have to move fast if they wanted to effectively connect with the senior edge rusher.
It is clear, though, that Butler is the type of immediate impact edge rusher that the Longhorns could really use as an upgrade to the defensive front right away. Butler is one of the most proven and impressive edge rushers available in the transfer portal at this point of the offseason.
During his four years playing for Miami (OH), Butler registered 120 combined tackles, 32 tackles for loss, 17 sacks, 90 quarterback pressures, one interception, 75 stops, three pass breakups (including two batted balls), one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery.
Butler definitely made one thing clear during his time playing for Miami (OH), he can get to the quarterback very effectively on a regular basis. That is the type of presence that the Longhorns need coming off the edge. If Texas wants to add another edge rusher to their transfer portal big board this offseason, Butler would be a great option.
