Big 12 Football: 3 transfer destinations for Jayden Daniels
Iowa State
The other Big 12 landing spot that really sticks out for Daniels out of the portal this offseason lies with head coach Matt Campbell and the Iowa State Cyclones. With a pretty high level of uncertainty surrounding Iowa State’s quarterback situation this offseason, this connection is sure to be brought up in the near future.
After losing their four-year starter and do-it-all starting senior quarterback Brock Purdy to the NFL Draft this year, Iowa State is now left looking for their next answer at the position. Why not give someone that is proven and talented such as Daniels a shot out of the portal in 2022?
If Daniels buys into this offense, it certainly makes a lot of sense for Daniels to land in a situation where he could challenge to start right away with a capable team in a Power Five conference. Iowa State could definitely still compete at a high level in the Big 12 in 2022 if they found a difference-maker with their new starting quarterback right away.
Campbell and the Cyclones also offered Daniels when he was coming out of Cajon High School in San Bernadino, CA, back during the 2019 recruiting cycle. That is a relevant connection that could play a role in wherever Daniels ultimately decides to take his talents to next.
At the moment, it looks like Iowa State is going to roll with rising redshirt sophomore quarterback Hunter Dekkers as their starter in 2022. But exploring the transfer portal could very likely be in the cards for Campbell and the Cyclones this year.
