There is a real possibility that Texas could have one of the best potential transfer portal targets at the offensive tackle position throughout the entire offseason just emerge last week. Former Arkansas State Red Wolves redshirt junior offensive tackle Andre Harris Jr. just entered the transfer portal late last month.

And it looks like there is already a good amount of interest in pursuing him out of the portal in early March. That comes with good reason too.

Harris had multiple years of solid production blocking for Arkansas State, mostly at the left tackle position. A multi-time All-Sun Belt offensive tackle, Harris is the type of offensive linemen that won’t emerge in the portal very often throughout the rest of the offseason.

Texas could have a real opportunity to upgrade their offensive line with some proven experience and depth with someone like Harris. This would definitely be an upgrade for the Longhorns to add Harris instead of starting returning senior offensive tackle Christian Jones. And it would provide more assurance to the Longhorns and offensive line coach/offensive coordinator Kyle Flood that the left tackle position would be solid.

The other option that Texas really has here is to start the incoming five-star Summer Creek High School recruit and 6-foot-5 and 300-pound offensive tackle Kelvin Banks at this spot. Harris does sound like more of a sure thing compared to the Longhorns starting either the true freshman Banks or Jones.
