3 recent transfer portal entrants Texas should offer
Josh Chandler-Semedo, LB
Potentially the biggest positional need remaining for the Longhorns staff to fill through the remainder of this offseason is at linebacker. Texas struggled throughout much of last season at the linebacker position. And it looks like Kwiatkowski and fellow co-defensive coordinator/linebackers coach Jeff Choate are actively seeking help at this position.
One player that it looks like Choate and the Longhorns already reached out to among linebackers that recently entered the transfer portal is the former West Virginia Mountaineers senior Josh Chandler-Semedo.
While there is the possibility that Texas already has an offer out to Chandler-Semedo, that wasn’t confirmed publicly yet as far as we can tell. And knowing how many schools are likely wanting to pursue Chandler-Semedo now that his name is in the transfer portal, the Longhorns should move fast to officially get an offer to him.
A few other schools that have apparently reached out to Chandler-Semedo already along with Texas are the Texas A&M Aggies, Miami Hurricanes, Rutgers Scarlet Knights, and likely a few others.
Chandler-Semedo is one of the few linebackers to end up in the portal so far this offseason that had an efficient 2021 campaign while registering at least 100 combined tackles. He’s got plenty of proven experience playing at the Will and middle linebacker positions from his time at West Virginia. Texas likely could have a clean fit with Chandler-Semedo competing right away for a starting spot at Mike linebacker.
