Although the Longhorns and new wide receivers coach/passing game coordinator Brennan Marion already hauled in one wideout commitment by way of the transfer portal this offseason, it looks like they’re still remaining active at this position. Texas already nabbed the breakthrough stud freshman Neyor from the transfer portal last month.

But Texas is also now looking to give their pitch to another young standout wide receiver in the transfer portal from the Group of Five ranks. The latest wide receiver emerging on the Longhorns radar out of the portal at this point of the offseason is the former Arkansas State Red Wolves redshirt freshman Corey Rucker.

The elusive and potent 6-foot and 200-pound wideout Rucker was one of the more productive pass-catchers in the Sun Belt last season. He also put together quite the statistical resume in the last couple of seasons with the Red Wolves.

In the last two seasons, Rucker registered 75 catches for nearly 1,300 receiving yards (17.1 yards per catch) and 15 total touchdowns. Rucker ranked in the top five in the Sun Belt last season in receiving touchdowns, total touchdowns from scrimmage, and receiving yards.

Moreover, a recent Horns247 report (paid content) indicates that Texas has already reached out to Rucker since he first put his name in the transfer portal back on March 7. The interest is there between Texas and Rucker, but there are still some other schools to watch here.

If Rucker is going to make a quick decision, then some schools involved here could be the South Carolina Gamecocks, Ole Miss Rebels, Auburn Tigers, and Texas.
