Indiana

Coming off a solid stint where they nearly made a Cinderella run to the finals in the Big Ten Tournament, head coach Mike Woodson and the Indiana Hoosiers are riding a high heading into Selection Sunday. Indiana was one of the biggest surprises among the major conference tournaments in the last few days.

The Hoosiers started off their run in the Big Ten Tournament by upsetting the talented Michigan Wolverines back on March 10 by the final score of 74-69. And then, the Hoosiers built on that momentum from their upset win over Michigan by taking down the top-seeded and No. 16 ranked Illinois Fighting Illini by the final score of 65-63 on March 11.

That upset win over head coach Brad Underwood and the Fighting Illini moved Woodson and the Hoosiers on to face the red hot five-seed Iowa Hawkeyes in the semifinals of the Big Ten Tournament on March 12.

But that is where the surprise run would end for the Hoosiers in the Big Ten Tournament. Woodson and the Hoosiers put up a big challenge for the Hawkeyes in the semifinals of the Big Ten Tournament. Yet, that went all for naught for Indiana, who fell short to Iowa by the close final score of 80-77 on March 12.

Moreover, Indiana is commonly getting projected as an 11-seed for the NCAA Tournament. That includes the latest Bracketology update from USA Today on March 13, which actually slots the 11-seed Hoosiers to face the six-seed Longhorns in the Round of 64.

A Round of 64 matchups between two big-time programs such as Texas and Indiana would be a lot of fun. That would also theoretically be a winnable game for Beard and the Longhorns to start off their NCAA Tournament run.
