Quavaris Crouch, LB

A productive and experienced linebacker, the former Michigan State Spartans and Tennessee Volunteers rising senior Quavaris Crouch is one of the more recognizable players in the transfer portal right now. Crouch is a former blue-chip recruit that has more than 160 combined tackles, a half-dozen tackles for loss, three sacks, a half-dozen pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery under his belt in his collegiate career to date.

Among the areas of Crouch’s game where he could impact the Longhorns the most is with his improved pass-rushing ability. Crouch ranked among the top three Michigan State players last season in terms of pass-rushing grade. He had just over a dozen quarterback pressures, five QB hits, and two sacks last fall.

Michael Edwards III, LB

One of my personal favorite players that could fill a position of need for the Longhorns in the transfer portal post-spring ball is the former Georgia Southern Eagles freshman breakout linebacker Michael Edwards III. As one of the top freshmen performers in the Sun Belt down the stretch last season, Edwards could be a great find out of the portal for Texas.

Edwards registered nearly 60 combined tackles, seven tackles for loss, four quarterback pressures, and nearly 30 stops while playing in just over 450 defensive snaps last season.

I would personally have Edwards as a take for the Longhorns ahead of Crouch. The only way to reasonably put Crouch ahead of Edwards on the big board for Texas is due to having more Power Five starts under his belt.
