Bryant Wesco, WR*

One of my favorite in-state wide receiver recruits in the 2024 class that the Longhorns are pursuing is the highly touted four-star Midlothian product Bryant Wesco. The fast-rising 6-foot-3 and 170-pound wideout is one of the most talented recruits at the position in the 2024 class, hence why three of the four major recruiting services rank him as a top 25 composite prospect in the nation.

I want to mention that there is an asterisk next to Wesco’s name since he is listed on IT’s visitor list as a “maybe” for the weekend. But Hudson Standish of Horns247 (paid content) does have Wesco on the spring game visitor list without the “maybe” tag.

As of the writing of this article early in the afternoon of April 14, it still looks like Wesco isn’t a fully confirmed visitor for Texas’ spring game this weekend. But it wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest to see Wesco show up on the 40 on April 15.

Wesco will be making his first unofficial trip to the 40 of 2023 if he is able to make it to Austin this weekend. If he’s not able to make it, Wesco still likely will try to make it to campus for a trip this summer.

Texas made Wesco’s top eight schools that he announced on social media on March 22. But there is still a long way that Texas has to go to make up some ground on the presumed frontrunners in this recruitment.

It sounds like the Clemson Tigers and Oklahoma Sooners are the leaders at the moment in the race to land a commitment from Wesco. TCU, Texas, and LSU Tigers are also making big pushes of late to lock-in official visits with Wesco for the summer.

Texas has a real opportunity to make a move in this recruitment this weekend. If new wide receivers coach Chris Jackson, Sark, and the Longhorns want to have a shot among the top schools for Wesco heading into the summer and fall, they need to make a big impression this weekend.
