You could make a valid argument for a few different priority recruits on this list for the Longhorns as to who is the most important that will be on campus for the spring game. I think the two most important visitors for the Longhorns this weekend will be the aforementioned Baker and the elite five-star IMG Academy running back Jerrick Gibson.

It’s not all that often that you get to host two of the top-ranked recruits at their respective positions in the nation on the same weekend for a highly anticipated spring game. Sark and the Longhorns staff must take advantage of this opportunity that is right in front of them this weekend.

Moreover, Texas is very clearly one of the frontrunners this spring in the race to land a commitment from the No. 1 ranked running back recruit in the nation in the 2024 class. Choice has formed an amazing relationship with Gibson, which is a connection that goes back to before he was hired as Texas’ RB coach last offseason.

While Texas looks like it could have the pole position among the top schools in this recruitment at the moment, there are still plenty of contenders that are going to try and make big pushes for Gibson heading into the summer and fall. Florida, Florida State, Georgia, and Tennessee are all still pushing for official visits with Gibson this offseason.

For the time being, though, it is a major advantage for Texas to get Gibson on campus at least three times before the end of the summer in 2023. He visited for the first Junior Day of the offseason on the weekend of Jan. 21. And he is also slated for an official visit to Austin on June 24.
