Texas football 2023 final NFL Mock Draft
DeMarvion Overshown, LB
Among the more mysterious and intriguing prospects in this draft class that are former Longhorns is senior All-Big 12 linebacker DeMarvion Overshown. The insanely physically gifted 6-foot-3 and 230-pound Overshown is also one of the more polarizing prospects in this draft class among linebackers.
The fact that Overshown can basically explode out of a cannon on any given down and makes plays in the opposing team’s backfield from a number of different looks pre-snap in the box makes him a standout prospect among linebackers in this class. But there are also question marks surrounding Overshown’s game that could limit his potential to go any higher than late in Day 3 in this draft.
Overshown didn’t do himself many favors either by posting some relatively pedestrian testing numbers at the NFL Combine in February. He ranked in the middle of the pack among linebackers in the 10-yard split and 40-yard dash.
And while Overshown did test better at Texas’ Pro Day last month, his measurables and times could still put a ceiling on him as a late third-round pick.
There’s no doubt in my mind that Overshown has the second-highest ceiling of any Longhorn in this draft class. His overall athleticism just puts his potential at too high of a mark for me to think that he is going to go any later than the fourth round in this NFL Draft.
