Chad Woodfork, EDGE

Just looking at the early offers in the 2025 class for the Longhorns, you can tell that the EDGE position is going to be a big priority for this staff. Texas has already offered a half-dozen blue-chip edge rushers in the 2025 class, including the high-four-star Humble (TX) Summer Creek EDGE Chad Woodfork.

The 6-foot-5 and 220-pound Woodfork is the highest-ranked edge rusher recruit in the state of Texas in the 2025 class in the 247Sports Composite. And Texas is recruiting him as such.

Texas has already visited Woodfork at Summer Creek High School multiple times since he was offered in late April 2023. Defensive line coach Bo Davis is one of the leading recruiters for the Longhorns in pursuit of Woodfork, and he’s already formed a great relationship with the blue-chip edge prospect (per On3).

"“Coach Bo Davis came up here a few weeks ago and I’ve been knowing him for a little bit. I camped there in the eighth grade and met him and when he pulled the trigger (on an offer) a few months ago, it felt good for sure.”"

It sounds like the relationship between Davis and Woodfork goes back a good way, despite Texas only having offered him less than two full months ago.

Heading into the summer, Texas and the Texas Tech Red Raiders look like the two top schools in the race to land a commitment from Woodfork. If Texas can get Woodfork back to campus during the summer or early in the fall for another successful unofficial visit, that can help them make a big move in this recruitment.
