Texas Football: Predicting Horns’ next 2024 commit after Santana Wilson
D’antre Robinson, DL
A dark horse recruitment to watch among those officially visiting Texas this weekend is the sizable 6-foot-4 and 315-pound Orlando (FL) Jones defensive lineman D’antre Robinson.
Robinson is currently on his first trip to the Forty Acres for his official visit (which started on June 16) since he made the unofficial trip for the first Junior Day of the offseason on Jan. 21. Defensive line coach Bo Davis and the Longhorns have made a big move in this recruitment since Robinson’s first visit to Texas in late January.
At this point, we shouldn’t question Davis’ ability to recruit big defensive linemen out of the southeast. He’s worked his magic before on priority out-of-state recruits out of the southeast in the last few cycles, and he’s given Texas a chance in this recruitment this summer.
However, Texas has some big-time competition in the race to land a commitment from Robinson this summer. Robinson is fresh off visits to Gainesville and Tuscaloosa to see the Florida Gators and Alabama Crimson Tide, respectively. Alabama recently offered Robinson and made an impression during his visit last week.
The Georgia Bulldogs (June 23) and Ohio State Buckeyes (Oct. 21) are also slated to get officials from Robinson.
From what we’ve heard in the last week, though, there is a chance that Robinson will start winding down his recruitment during the summer. If Texas makes a big impression this weekend, there’s a good chance that they can make another big move with Robinson before the Georgia official visit next week.
