The time has come for the Longhorns to take on the forbidable, indomitable, powerful Southeastern Conference.

As Texas prepares to make the SEC its new home, head coach Steve Sarkisian has built an incredible roster and it is headlined by his starting quarterback Quinn Ewers.

Ewers, a junior, led Texas to a Big 12 conference title and an appearance in the College Football Playoffs last season.

Ewers and the Horns are expected to be a top team once again in 2024 but where does Ewers sit in comparison to his fellow SEC quarterbacks?

As the Wildcats piece together a team filled with transfer portal players, junior Brock Vandagriff is most likely going to be QB1 for Kentucky.

Vandagriff has zero starts after starting his collegiate career at Georgia. He has 165 career passing yards for 2 touchdowns and 0 interceptions.

Despite former Oregon and Auburn quarterback Robby Ashford transferring to South Carolina, sophomore LaNorris Sellers will most earn the starting job.

Sellers has zero starting experience but has completed 100 percent of his pass attempts for 86 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Nate Johnson spent two seasons with the Utah Utes where he produced 515 yards and 3 touchdowns through the air.

A dual-threat quarterback, Johnson also has 286 rushing yards for an additional 6 career touchdowns on the ground.

Taylen Green earned the starting job at Boise State before transferring to Arkansas and becoming the favored starter for the Razorbacks.

Last season, Green had 1,752 passing yards for 11 touchdowns. He also had 9 touchdowns on the ground alongside 436 rushing yards.

Heading into his third season with the Aggies, Conner Weigman is expected to be the starting quarterback for Texas A&M.

Weigman had 979 passing yards for 8 touchdowns and 2 interceptions last season. Senior Jacolby Criswell will most likely be Weigman's backup for the Aggies.

Blake Shapen started his collegiate career with the Baylor Bears and amassed 2,183 yards last season for 13 touchdowns and just 3 interceptions.

Shapen transfered to play for the Mississippi State Bulldogs following the 2023 season and is expected to be the starting quarterback this year.

After transferring to Auburn from Michigan State, Peyton Thorne earned the Tigers' starting quarterback job in 2023.

This season, Thorne is expected to retain his starting position after throwing for over 1,700 yards and 16 touchdowns last year.

Garrett Nussmeier was a top prospect coming out of high school but lost the starting job to Hesiman winner Jayden Daniels last season.

In 2024, Nussmeier is predicted to become the starting quarterback for the LSU Tigers. As a backup he had 591 yards for 4 touchdowns in 2023.

Five-star recruit and freshman quarterback Jackson Arnold is set to kickoff his collegiate career as the starting quarterback for the Oklahoma Sooners.

Despite lacking experience at the college level, Arnold is projected to be highly successful as he and OU join the SEC.

Nica Iamaleava was a backup quarterback for a majority of the 2023 season and utilized his redshirt season.

At the end of the Volunteers' season, Iamaleava took the reigns of the Vols' offense and earned the Citrus Bowl MVP honor.

Graham Mertz started in the first 11 games of Florida's 2023 season before being sidelined with a season-ending injury.

Before sitting out of the Gators' last game, Mertz had 2,903 passing yards and 24 total touchdowns. He only threw 3 interceptions throughout the past season.

Last season, quarterback Brady Cook was a large part as to how the Missouri Tigers shocked the world with an 11-2 overall record.

Cook threw for 3,317 yards and 21 touchdowns over his junior year. Despite not being the most talented runner, Cook also had 319 rushing yards for an additional 8 touchdowns.

Jaxson Dart has most certainly cemented himself as the starting quarterback for Ole Miss after continuously improving his stats and the Rebels' overall record.

In 2023, Dart had career highs with 3,364 passing yards and 23 touchdowns through the air. He only threw 5 interceptions while leading Ole Miss to an 11-2 overall record.

There were a lot of doubts about Jalen Milroe throughout the beginning of the 2023 season, especially after his performance against the Texas Longhorns.

However, Milroe proved the haters wrong and led the Alabama Crimson Tide to an SEC championship and an appearance in the College Football Playoffs.

With a quarterback rating of 86 last season, Carson Beck led the Georgia Bulldogs to an almost perfect season... until the very end.

Beck threw for 3,941 passing yards and 24 touchdowns to earn the SEC regular season title, before losing to the Crimson Tide in the conference championship game.

As Ewers heads into his junior season with the Longhorns, he is expected to lead the Longhorns to the top of the SEC standings if not the top of the national standings.

Last year, Ewers had 3,554 total yards for 27 touchdowns and just 6 interceptions. Sarkisian beefed up the Texas offensive line during the offseason and it should provide Ewers more protection as they head to the SEC.
