The hate watch was fun but Texas should be glad the Aggies beat the Gamecocks

The Texas Longhorns might love it when Texas A&M loses, but they should be glad that the Aggies pulled off the comeback victory this time.

It isn't often that the Texas Longhorns pull for the Texas A&M Aggies to win, but that's exactly how they started their Saturday.

As the No. 3 Aggies took on the unranked and 3-6 South Carolina Gamecocks, Texas A&M shockingly found itself down 30-3 at halftime. What was more shocking was the fact that the Horns actually wanted the Aggies to pull off the comeback.

Well, they did just that and just like that, Texas was celebrating a win for Texas A&M.

Why exactly would the Horns ever want the Aggies to win? Because an undefeated Texas A&M team coming to Austin is a much better prize than a Texas A&M team with a loss to a program like South Carolina.

Texas wants Texas A&M to be undefeated

Because the Longhorns already have two losses on their record, the team drastically needs to win out after this weekend (whether the Horns beat Georgia tonight or not).

Texas's strength-of-schedule argument for their place in the College Football Playoffs is weak at best, even with the win over Vanderbilt. So, the possibility of a win over an undefeated Texas A&M that is ranked within the top three is exactly what the Horns need.

If the Aggies had lost, it wouldn't have been as big of a deal when the Longhorns host them in Austin. In other words, the possible win would have meant less on Texas's resume.

For now, the Aggies' record remains unblemished, with a non-conference game against the Samford Bulldogs as the only thing between them and their rivals.

No. 10 Texas and No. 3 Texas A&M are scheduled to kick off on Friday, Nov. 28, at 6:30 p.m. CT, and the in-state rivalry matchup will be broadcast on ABC.
