Texas football and head coach Steve Sarkisian are having to balance high school and recruiting in the winter NCAA Transfer Portal while preparing for the next round of the College Football Playoff in the semifinals against the Ohio State Buckeyes next week.

Taking a look at Texas football's portal needs defensively for the line of scrimmage for 2025

Early this weekend, the Longhorns hosted a couple of key transfer targets from the portal for visits to Austin to potentially help the line of scrimmage up front on defense this upcoming offseason. Texas's portal visits that have been reported so far began on Friday of this weekend.

Texas also hosted a transfer quarterback on campus to add depth as an emergency QB on Friday, with former Houston Christian, Baylor, and Texas State transfer CJ Rogers committing to the Longhorns this weekend.

Sarkisian and the Longhorns staff have already signed three transfer additions from the portal in the winter window. On the defensive side of the ball, the Longhorns added proven depth up front along the front seven with former Purdue senior grad transfer defensive tackle and Arkansas sophomore linebacker Brad Spence.

Jeff Banks and the Longhorns also added a significant upgrade to the special teams unit with former all-conference first-team Utah punter Jack Bouwmeester.

Here's a look at the two portal visitors along the defensive front who the Longhorns are hosting on campus this weekend in Austin.
