Omari Evans, WR (Penn State)
Former Penn State Nittany Lions junior transfer wide receiver Omari Evans officially entered the transfer portal earlier this week. Evans announced his plans to enter the transfer portal after Penn State's postseason run ended in the College Football Playoff semifinals against Notre Dame on Jan. 9.
Evans has a few notable connections to the Longhorns that could be relevant in this portal recruitment. First, Evans is a native of Killeen, TX, which is just a couple of hours up the road from Austin and UT's campus.
Also, Evans has legit track speed as a deep threat who competed in track and field in the long jump in his senior year at Shoemaker High School in Killeen.
Evans led Penn State in yards per catch (19.8), deep receptions (eight), deep receiving yards (310), and explosive touchdowns (five), per PFF.
From what's been reported surrounding Evans' portal recruitment in the past couple of days, Texas hasn't pushed much to get involved. The Texas Tech Red Raiders have been the school recently trending for Evans' portal recruitment in the past day or so.
