Texas football finds three quality portal pickups during the winter transfer window in December
It's noteworthy that the deadline for compliance departments to process and submit paperwork for players to enter the winter transfer portal was Dec. 30.
Since the Longhorns are still playing in the postseason in the College Football Playoff, Texas players have at least until early January to enter the transfer portal. The additional window for players participating in the postseason through the month of January will have another five days to submit paperwork to enter the transfer portal.
Only a handful of players currently in the transfer portal have been mentioned and/or discussed as potential Texas targets during the winter window. As teams are eliminated from the Playoff and enter the portal in the coming days and weeks in the month of January, the Longhorns are expected to target more transfers at key positions of need for the upcoming offseason.
So far in the winter transfer window, the Longhorns have signed three transfer commitments. On the defensive side of the ball, the Longhorns added two players at areas of need along the front seven. Jeff Banks and the Longhorns upgraded the special teams unit via the portal with former Utah Utes grad transfer senior punter Jack Bouwmeester a few weeks ago.
Here are two major wins for the Longhorns so far in the winter portal window.
