Most of the recruiting from the winter NCAA Transfer Portal window for Texas football is in the rearview mirror, with the spring semester and winter workouts starting last week in Austin. The window for most transfer portal entries for the winter cycle ended a few weeks ago.

But each team in the postseason had an extended five-day window for players to submit paperwork to enter the winter portal, leaving a handful of transfers from the Ohio State Buckeyes and Notre Dame Fighting Irish as players to watch in the portal early this offseason.

While most of the attention on the recruiting trail for head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns remains on the first big Junior Day of the offseason this upcoming weekend, portal recruiting could come back into focus if the right names show up on the transfer market.

In the spring portal, the Longhorns are expected to look for transfer help at wide receiver, tight end, defensive line, defensive back, and potentially running back. This comes after the Longhorns addressed a couple of positional needs in the winter portal in the past month.

Texas signed four portal players during the winter transfer window. The Longhorns added two grad transfer defensive tackles, including former North Carolina Tar Heels junior Travis Shaw and Purdue Boilermakers senior Cole Brevard.

The Longhorns also added help at linebacker and the special teams unit with former Arkansas linebacker Brad Spence and Utah punter Jack Bouwmeester via the winter portal in December.

Here are two Notre Dame transfers who could be possible portal targets at positions of need for the Longhorns early this offseason.
