Texas loses senior tight end Gunnar Helm to the NFL Draft next spring, which is the second year in a row that the Longhorns lost their starting tight end to the NFL. That's not to mention that the Longhorns also lose senior tight end Juan Davis due to exhausted eligibility next offseason.

Helm and Davis have been Texas's top two most utilized tight ends this season.

To replace the proven tight end production that the Longhorns are losing to the NFL and exhausted eligibility in 2025, Jeff Banks and Texas host Purdue senior tight end transfer Max Klare today.

Per 247Sports/CBS Sports' Matt Zenitz, Texas is hosting Klare for a visit to Austin on Dec. 12.

Klare has the type of proven production catching passes from former Texas quarterback Hudson Card at Purdue that could make him a big impact player for the Longhorns' offense at the tight end position next year. He was a Third-Team All-Big Ten tight end for the Boilermakers this season, behind top players at the position, including Penn State's Tyler Warren and Michigan's Colston Loveland.

At 6-foot-4 and 240 pounds, Klare has the size and proven college production to be a solid receiving tight end threat for the Longhorns next year. He had over 50 catches for nearly 700 receiving yards and four touchdowns for Purdue in 2024.

The biggest question mark surrounding Klare is his blocking ability. Roughly 40 percent of his offensive snaps in the past two seasons at Purdue were spent as a blocker, which hasn't given him much time to develop as a blocking tight end.
