Every Week, Hook’em Headlines will pick 6 football games that do not include the Texas Longhorns. In this week’s Pick 6, the we will pick the big game between Florida and Tennessee, the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers, and many other games.

Last week: 3-0

Chicago Bears at Green Bay Packers:

Line: Packers -5

This is a big game for both teams to set the tone in the NFC North early in the season.  The Bears looked impressive in their debut while the Packers looked sluggish. I want to see what the Bears secondary does against the Packers and Aaron Rodgers.  I think the Bears secondary will shut down Aaron Rodgers much like the 49ers did and the offensive power for the Bears will just be too much in the end.

Bears win 31-27

Florida Gators at Tennessee Volunteers

Line: Tennessee -3

The Florida Gators came out of College Station with a hard-fought win over the Texas A&M Aggies.  The Gators now go into Knoxville, Tennessee to face their bitter rival the Tennessee Volunteers. While the Gators weren’t overly impressive in their win over Texas A&M, I do think they come out against Tennessee and show that they are a contender in the SEC East. I think that Tennessee will probably be in the lead at halftime but that will not hold up against the Gators’ defense in the second half.  In the end I believe the Florida Gators win this game.

Gators win 27-24

Alabama Crimson Tide at Arkansas Razorbacks

Line: Alabama -20

The Arkansas Razorbacks are coming off one of their worst losses in school history. Not only did they lose to Louisiana-Monroe but they fell out of the AP top 25 when they were ranked 8th the previous week making the second largest drop in AP poll history.  There is no question that Bobby Petrino was the architect behind Arkansas’s successful run. You can’t just plug in another coach and expect the same results. Now the Arkansas Razorbacks must regroup and face off against the number one team in the country. I think they do bounce back but will lose this game but Alabama won’t cover.

Alabama wins 38-24

USC Trojans at Stanford Cardinal

Line: USC -9

Both teams have something to prove in this game. USC wants to prove that they are the number one team in the country while the Stanford Cardinal wants to prove that they can win without Andrew Luck. I really don’t see this game being closer than the line indicates, I think the Trojans are upset with their performance against Syracuse last week and are going come out hungry in this game. They are going to beat Stanford and Stanford will have to realize that they had a very rare talent in Andrew Luck that is not easy to replace.

USC wins 42-21

Notre Dame Fighting Irish  at Michigan State Spartans

Notre Dame, do you want to prove you’re elite again? Win this weekend and you will definitely be in that conversation.  Notre Dame will start quarterback Everett Gholston for this game but he has a tough task ahead of them going up against a Michigan State defense that has not allowed an offense touchdown all year.  This is my upset pick of the week because I believe Notre Dame goes in the East Lansing and beats the Spartans.

Notre Dame wins 21-17

Sunday night football: Detroit Lions at San Francisco 49ers

Outside of tonight’s game, this is the biggest game on the NFL schedule. The Lions are coming off a last-second win against a much improved St. Louis Rams team.  The 49ers are on cloud nine right now after their huge win at Lambeau Field. I think the Lions will put up numbers but the only numbers that matter are the ones you get on the scoreboard and I think the 49ers will win that battle.

49ers win 24-20
