2. Will Johnathan Gray be back at 100%?

With Malcolm Brown headed to the NFL, Johnathan Gray will be the leader of this year’s group of running backs. Last season, Gray seemed to suffer some lasting effects from an achilles injury that kept him out of spring and summer practices. When he returned, though he showed some flashes, he didn’t seem to be quite the same player he was before.

Will he be able to put the injury behind him and run with confidence?

The coaches feel that he is mentally ready and that he has the talent to be the playmaker we all expected.

Despite his injury and quick return, he still averaged over 4 yards per carry last season and proved that he’s still capable of being a home-run threat, posting two runs for over 40 yards in the season.

Despite some young talent on the roster at running back, it’s safe to assume that Gray will receive the bulk of the carries. If he can return to form, he could be very dangerous, in both the running game as well as the passing game.
