Of all the potential coaches on the list, Gregg Marshall is probably the favorite–at least among the fan base.
Marshall, who has been at Wichita State for the last eight seasons, has tons of experience and a stellar NCAA Tournament record, including a recent unlikely run to the Final Four, despite playing higher-seeded and probably more talented teams.
His teams are fundamentally sound and efficient on both sides of the ball.
Additionally, Marshall’s name would add immediate credibility to the program when it comes to pulling in recruits.
He is definitely the safest pick to take over for Barnes, but there are a lot of reports that he could be headed to Alabama for $3.4 million, which is more than Patterson has said he wants to spend.
