Shaka Smart is another favorite among the Longhorn fan base, and the reports are the he could potentially be Patterson’s top target.

Though Smart doesn’t have the experience that Marshall has, the 37-year-old is young, energetic, and passionate, and would be an immediate shot of excitement for the fans.

His teams play an upbeat style referred to as havoc, often employing the full-court press to interfere with the opponents’ offensive sets.

While exciting for the fans to watch, the question remains as to whether or not the style would carry over into a bigger conference against more talented teams. One would think that the talent in Texas would be taylor-made for such a playing style, but it is a valid concern.

Smart would definitely be the flashiest pick, and while he might have the highest cieling, he would be a riskier hire than Marshall.
