Hassan Ridgeway
We didn’t hear Ridgeway’s name called much versus Notre Dame. He didn’t start the game – Poona Ford received that honor. When he was on the field we didn’t see him disrupting any plays, something Strong and Vance Bedford will be counting on from the junior this season. Part of this may be the game plan to keep Ziare in the pocket and not let him run wild through the Texas defense.
This is a game that Ridgeway should dominate. He has the skillset to blow up plays in the backfield. Bedford won’t be as concerned with Jackson as he was with Zaire so I expect Ridgeway to be in Rice’s backfield on a regular basis. Bedford will turn him loose and let the young linebackers clean up any mess that gets by Ridgeway.
Today should be the day Ridgeway has a Malcolm Brown-type day at the office.
