Damariary Drew, Safety

Drew is making the most of a second chance. He was suspended for the 2014 season following a felony arrest in May of that year. He was reinstated this season.

Drew led the Bears with 10 tackles against San Diego State last week. No doubt he will be spying on Jerrod Heard. Drew will be responsible for keeping Heard from breaking off any big runs. Expect Drew to be playing close to the line of scrimmage to play the run. If Texas falls behind early and abandons the run he’ll be looking to hit any receivers coming across the middle of the field.

The junior also excels on special teams. Drew earned Special Teams Player of the Week honors. The guy is a football player, plain and simple. Heard needs to know where Drew is lined up on every play.
